Job Overview:

Are you excited by health-based research and either have experience or an interest in health simulation? If so you are invited to apply for the role of Research Assistant to work in the Department of Health alongside a range of experienced, innovative and passionate health care professionals.

The University has recently been successful in being awarded funding by Health Education England to grow placement capacity for our healthcare students, through innovative Simulation Based Education projects and this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our Department as a research assistant

The successful candidate, you will undertake qualitative research involving interviews and focus groups with pre-registration nursing and physiotherapy students, academic staff, support staff and stakeholders. You will also contribute to data analysis, evaluation of the project and publication of the research findings.

You will have an honours degree (2:1 or above) and have experience of undertaking primary research.

You will be self-motivated and able to work independently but you will also be a team player. You must be a good communicator and able to present information on research progress and outcomes to different audiences.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Management of the research on a day to day basis and administrative activities related to the project to meet tight deadlines and project milestones working closely with the overall project manager
  • Contribute to effective liaison with stakeholders (Health Education England, Healthcare Employers and Practice Partners).
  • Contribute to the recruitment of participants to the study.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the project, qualitative evaluation of student experiences through focus groups and interviews.
  • Collect and analyse data.
  • Support in the organisation and delivery of dissemination opportunities and collaborate in the preparation of project reports and journal articles for publication, presentation or exhibition.
