We are seeking a Clinical Research Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hard-working nurse to join our existing Airways Nurse Team to undertake clinical research studies in asthma and COPD. The appointee will work closely Professors Pavord and Bafadhel and Drs Tim Hinks and Richard Russell, Senior Clinical Research fellows, leading projects held primarily at John Radcliffe Hospital.
As our Clinical Research Nurse, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of respiratory research trials. You will take part in all aspects of respiratory care & clinical trials, including spirometry, phlebotomy, ECGs, observations, and history taking. Within this, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate and work closely with the nursing and medical clinical teams caring for the relevant cohorts to agree clinical and research responsibilities. These responsibilities need to be taken on by an individual who has; excellent record keeping skills, the ability to educate patients and to liaise with general practice. The research side of the job will include the need for someone to be able to contribute to the identification of research strategies, as well as having the ability to run database reports, analyse and report on information gathered during the project/trial/study. When taking part in trials, we also expect the chosen candidate to show qualities of leadership in being able to feel confident when organising and implementing clinical trials and be involved in the preparation of reports for publication as well as actively contribute to the Quality Assurance System and Audit Programmes. The post holder will be required to act as a resource, by supporting, motivating and teaching staff members with special reference to the relevant clinical trials.
You will hold a degree level qualification and/or equivalent and have academic experience. You will need to be a registered nurse. It is desirable to have relevant clinical experience in the area of asthma and COPD.
The post is full-time and fixed-term for up to 1 year.
