The purpose of this role will be to perform research and disseminate findings on a Medical Research Council (MRC) funded project entitled “‘Optimising Post-operative Electrical Muscle Stimulation (PoEMS) to improve outcomes for surgical cancer patients’”. You will be expected to plan and conduct work using human physiology (e.g., imaging and electromyography) and wet-lab approaches and methodologies (including molecular biology and mass-spectrometry techniques) and will be responsible for associated research publications and other forms of dissemination.
You will join an established team, led by Prof Bethan Phillips, whose main areas of research interest include translational skeletal muscle physiology, exercise-for-health and surgical re/prehabilitation.
You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend your research portfolio.
The job is offered on a fixed term basis for 9 months. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week).
