We are seeking a Research Fellow to be part of the HumAn1 Trial, evaluating a switch from human to analogue insulins among children and young people living with Type 1 diabetes in low-and-middle income settings. The role involves undertaking qualitative studies of patients, providers and stakeholders at the study sites in Tanzania and Bangladesh in close collaboration with local data collection teams. The successful candidate will work alongside the co-PIs at LSHTM and study partners at Pittsburgh and Harvard Universities, USA; BIRDEM Diabetes Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and MITU, Tanzania and relevant hospitals in Mwanza, Tanzania.
The post-holder should have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic. They should have relevant experience in humanitarian or LMIC settings and mixed methods research. The post-holder should also have experience in qualitative research, especially in training and supervising teams of data collectors. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 30 June 2024. The post is available with an immediate start date.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £41,829 - £47,503 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
