The role

We seek an enthusiastic and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team to be the main point of contact for information, advice, and guidance on all matters relating to specialist health and safety matters across the Moredun Group (i.e. the governing Charity, the Research Institute, and the commercial-facing subsidiaries).

The post holder will be required to support all levels of employees in order to achieve legislative compliance and to implement effective occupational health and safety management systems across the organisation. The role covers a diverse range of working environments including laboratories adhering to Level 2 and 3 containment levels, engineering (light fabrication and repairs) and agricultural facilities.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to influence others.

Essential requirements

You will have:

  • Professional health and safety qualification (i.e. one which satisfies the eligibility criterion for admission as a ‘Graduate’ member of IOSH (https://www.iosh.co.uk/Membership/About-membership/Qualifications.aspx)
  • Knowledge of current health and safety practice and legislation
  • Experience of advising on health and safety in a similar role
  • Experience of writing policies, standards, and risk assessments and incident investigation
  • Experience of presenting information to a group, for example delivering training or giving presentations

Interviews are planned to take place towards the end of March 2023 and applicants will be asked to provide a 10-minute presentation to the panel on the following: ‘Describe your approach to developing robust safe systems of work in a diverse work environment such as the Moredun Group’.
