We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Assistant/Associate to work on a programme of work around Domestic Violence and Abuse. This post will cover studies funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria and the N8 Policing Research Partnership. The studies aim to develop an understanding of how proficiently multi-agency partners support adult victims/survivors of Domestic Violence and Abuse, understand what changes are required in services and/or professional practice to better meet the needs of adult victims/survivors (inclusive of the police response to domestic violence and abuse investigations) and move forward the agenda of service integration to respond to the needs of both adult and children impacted by domestic violence and abuse.
The study will make an important contribution to the social care field. The studies are being led by Newcastle University in collaboration with researchers at the North East and North Cumbria Applied Research Collaboration (ARC), North West Coast ARC, West Midlands ARC and Kent, Surry, Sussex ARC. In addition to academic partners, we have a range of stakeholders involved in all aspects of the study including local authority partners, police colleagues and individuals who have lived experience of domestic violence.
You will interview key professionals regarding domestic violence and abuse service provision. You will also facilitate focus groups with multi-agency partners, conduct a systematic literature review, undertake quantitative data analyses and facilitate co-production workshops (with multi-agency partners and individuals with lived experience). They should be experienced in sensitive research in applied health research, including recruiting and interviewing multi agency partners and have a demonstrable understanding of health and social care services relating to children and families and/or domestic violence. They will possess the skills to ensure the successful planning and execution of the project. They will have excellent communication and presentation skills. Applications from candidates who have experience of conducting research with people who have experienced violence and abuse are welcomed.
The post is 0.5 WTE for a fixed term until 31.1.2024.
