NCCAT Technical Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the National Centre for Combustion and Aerothermal Technology (NCCAT) relating to the appointment of a Technical Manager on a full-time, open-ended contract.

The postholder will play a lead role in overseeing the centre's daily technical operations across highly specialised and complex test facilities, supporting post-graduate, post-doctorate and commercially focussed research activities. The role will demand the provision of high-level technical advice, enforcement of H&S and regulatory requirements as well as skills in problem-solving to ensure optimal operational efficiency and a high quality of service to NCCAT users. A significant proportion of the role will cover front-line management of the groups' specialist technical staff, including planning and overseeing work schedules, training and staff development monitored via the University's performance development review process.

This is a senior position requiring a highly motivated professional with relevant training and a proven track record of supporting and running management of a busy research laboratory workshop. The successful candidate will have demonstratable experience and skills in manufacturing, machining, and fabrication techniques and possess excellent planning, leadership and time management skills. A proactive, solution-focussed and accommodating approach will be key to this new and important role in at NCCAT.
