University of York - Centre for Reviews and Dissemination

Location: York
Salary: £43,155 to £63,059 per annum
Hours: Full Time, Part Time
Contract Type: Permanent

The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) at the University of York is recruiting a researcher with a track record in synthesis of qualitative data, either as a Grade 8 Senior Research Fellow or as a Grade 7 Research Fellow (according to level of experience).

CRD is an academic research department (https://www.york.ac.uk/crd) that specialises in and is at the forefront of evidence synthesis. Our systematic reviews and other evidence synthesis projects span a broad range of health and public health areas. They provide best evidence to inform policy and practice decisions and are underpinned by a programme of methodological development and commitment to knowledge exchange.

Following a top ten place in REF21, implementation of a new research strategy and award of funding to establish a new NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group, we have created several additional posts including this position. The person appointed will lead syntheses of qualitative studies and undertake engagement activity, particularly in our work on supportive care for children with cancer, social care and the wider determinants of health. They will also contribute to other existing research programmes where a synthesis of qualitative data is required alongside syntheses of quantitative data.

We are seeking a researcher with sufficient expertise and experience in qualitative synthesis to lead projects, provide support and guidance to early career researchers and establish their own portfolio of research. The role would suit an established research leader (Grade 8) or an experienced researcher (Grade 7) looking to progress to a Senior Research Fellow position within the next 2-3 years.

CRD provides a friendly and supportive environment that is part of a wider health and social care research community within the University of York. We embrace hybrid and flexible working patterns including part-time hours, enabling staff to work partly remotely (within the UK) according to project needs and their preferences. We value diversity, and are committed to equality of opportunity and fostering an inclusive culture where we can all be ourselves. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates and particularly encourage applications from people who identify as being from the Black African and Caribbean Heritage community, Asian or other ethnic background that is underrepresented at the University

This is a full-time position, but we will also consider applicants who wish to work part-time provided that this is at least 60% of a whole time equivalent (3 days per week).

Candidates should state whether they are applying at Grade 7 or Grade 8 level.

We expect interviews to take place virtually in May

For informal enquiries: please contact Professor Amanda Sowden (amanda.sowden@york.ac.uk) or Professor Rachel Churchill (rachel.churchill@york.ac.uk).

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive  – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.

We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as  Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

We also encourage applications from women for senior roles.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
