This role will lead activities within UKRI Research Councils to establish and deliver cross UKRI Horizon alternative talent programmes.

You will lead the operationalisation and delivery of transitional talent measures, such as inflight assessment, that are to be put in place in the event of non-association to Horizon Europe. You will also support cross Council implementation groups working to develop new cross UKRI talent programmes that will be launched upon non-association.

Responsibilities

  • Leading Council contributions to the delivery of inflight Horizon Europe talent programme associated peer review and assessment and the establishment of new cross UKRI talent programmes.
  • To work collaboratively with talent teams across UKRI to lead Council activities in support of Horizon Europe associated talent activities.
  • Supporting UKRI engagement with the research and innovation community as part of Horizon Europe transitional measures and talent alternative scheme establishment, and the development of clear communications regarding transitional and upcoming UKRI talent programmes.
  • Leading on Council community engagement, building strategic relationships and raising awareness of transitional measures and new cross UKRI talent programmes, and act to address community questions associated with these.
  • Leading activities to ensure awareness of Horizon Alternative talent programmes within their Council.
  • Leading, supporting and guiding the development of team members as appropriate.
  • Provide support for the planning, evidencing and development of strategy in the talent ecosystem in academia, business and across sectors.
  • Carrying out other Council talent duties/ projects that may be required of the post.

Essential skills, qualifications and experience

  • Relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in research and/ or innovation environment and delivering against tight timelines with clear planning and prioritisation skills and an understanding of peer review.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, negotiating and influencing with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to plan, prioritise, and progress multiple work streams at the same time.
  • Ability to take accountability and proactively deliver objectives and outcomes of own work (supporting the wider team) through planning, prioritising and delivering with minimum supervision.
  • Effective collaborator and team member, actively establishing excellence working relationships and networks to enhance work output.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and coordinate resources.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to show initiative, cope with ambiguity, and operate independently in an evolving environment.
