We are seeking an ambitious Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the B Cell Biology Group (Bannard Lab) in the MRC Human Immunology Unit (HIU) at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM). The driving goal of our laboratory is to understand the mechanisms responsible for antibody affinity maturation in germinal centers, and to learn how B cells establish immunological memory. We are particularly interested in clonal selection and B cell fate decisions. To this end, we employ various in vivo models to track and monitor cell differentiation in situ and to uncover the events and cues shepherding B cell behaviour. For further details, please see the lab website and recent publications; https://www.imm.ox.ac.uk/research/units-and-centres/mrc-human-immunology-unit/research-groups/bannard-group-b-cell-immunology.
The MRC HIU in the MRC WIMM provides the perfect research environment. We have access to world-class facilities, including the Wolfson imaging suite (confocal, 2-photon, super-resolution etc), the genome targeting facility, and the single cell genomics core, etc. We are part of a vibrant immunology community that regularly meets to discuss ongoing research projects. Suitable candidates should have a strong track record, be highly driven and creative, and have a true passion for researching and understanding immunology. To be considered for this position you should have a PhD in immunology or in a related subject. The successful candidate will join a small group of friendly and supportive scientists.
Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Oliver Bannard (oliver.bannard@ndm.ox.ac.uk). This is a full-time appointment until 31/12/2025 initially, with the possibility of extending.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application. The supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
