The University of Aberdeen are looking for a graduate with a strong interest and aptitude for data analytics to take on an exciting new two-year graduate traineeship with the Directorate of Planning & Governance.
Applicants should be passionate about data with excellent statistical and data analytical skills and have experience of working with large data sets. Experience of data modelling and using business intelligence (BI) tools is desirable, but not essential, although candidates should have a proven track record of mastering new software packages. Strong organisational skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills are also required.
Successful applicants will be recent graduates, self-motivated, organised and will have the capability to work effectively to conflicting priorities and short timescales. You will be required to work across teams with staff at all levels across the institution so good communication and team-working skills are essential. You should be highly data literate and confident in your ability to interpret and communicate the results of data analysis to others along with ideas for improvements.
Graduate Trainees will normally be expected to undertake a period of up to two years on-the-job training before they will be considered for appointment or promotion to a career grade position within the University. During the training period incremental progression will apply on the anniversary of the individual’s appointment. During the first year of graduate training salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 4 salary scale, spinal Point 20 - £27,396 per annum. During the final year of graduate training salary will be paid at spinal point 22. On satisfactory completion of the training period there will be an assessment of performance and a review of any further training or development activities undertaken during the training period. Subject to a satisfactory outcome of this review the Graduate Trainee will be eligible for consideration for promotion or appointment to a career grade position within the University.
