Manager of Academic Quality Assurance

We are looking for a Manager of Academic Quality Assurance to join our team at Brunel University London Pathway College (BPC) in Uxbridge.

Salary up to £43,000 per annum

You will provide management of quality assurance systems and policies across the College; ensuring compliance with College and partner University quality assurance regulations and requirements of external stakeholders. Providing  analysis, briefings, reports and detailed plans for internal reviews and support and assist in the coordination of external reviews and inspections. Giving specialist advice and guidance to colleagues across the College, partner University and students. 

Manager, Quality Assurance Role:

  • To manage the College’s quality assurance arrangements, ensuring that relevant regulations, policies, and codes of practice are kept under review and updated in accordance with Navitas Academic Registry and the partner University senate regulations and to conform to external regulatory guidance, notably from the Office for Students and the Quality Assurance Agency.
  • To co-ordinate the planning and management of internal reviews and support and assist in the coordination of external reviews, working closely with the Director of Learning and Teaching and Director of Academic and Student Services and other stakeholders to co-ordinate effective data capture and validation procedures for the production of annual monitoring documentation and periodic programme review.
  • To undertake process reviews and audits, supporting the design, development and implementation of quality management systems and standard operating procedures across the College.
  • To co-ordinate and provide support for the design and development of new programmes, and modules, working closely with Director of Learning and Teaching.
  • To provide detailed analysis in relation to feedback from internal reviews, external reviews, Academic Misconduct, Extenuating Circumstances and Academic Appeals.
  • To liaise closely with the Director of Learning and Teaching, providing support in relation to academic quality and standards, and acting as effective liaison with related College Boards and Committees.
  • To support and advise Student & Academic Services and collaborative colleagues in relation to quality assurance and enhancement matters. To include advice on the impact of new developments in relation to external regulatory and reporting requirements and amendments to internal quality processes and procedures
  • To manage and support the academic standards and quality enhancement in the assessment delivery across the college, overseeing academic quality assurance functions such as assessment approval.
  • At all times, maintain professional standards in relationships, demonstrating a commitment to upholding Equal Opportunities and Diversity principles.
  • To undertake any appropriate training which may be required to enhance performance in relation to the duties of the post. 

Manager, Quality Assurance Requirements: 

Essential 

  • Postgraduate degree
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and curriculum design/development
  • Strong understanding of UK HE policies and practices
  • Strong understanding of academic quality-related processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory and other related bodies including the Quality Assurance Agency, Office of the Independent Adjudicator and Office for Students
  • Evidence of improving academic outcomes such as pass rate, retention, progression, and student satisfaction
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience handling and prioritising multiple workloads
  • Ability to conduct advanced research and analysis
  • Experience of leading academic projects 

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of the HE sector
  • Experience of developing policies and strategies
  • Experience of designing academic quality related processes
  • Evidence of using data-informed practices to produce written reports and action plans
  • FHEA Status
