TORS is part of the Student and Academic Services directorate and is made up of highly qualified, specialist and experienced members of staff. We provide support to a vast and diverse range of teaching, research and commercial activities across the University.
TORS staff work closely with other University services such as Health and Safety, Digital Technology Services, Finance and Estates and our Research Centres. Our role is to ensure that specialist spaces are fully accessible and add value to the student experience / research output.
The team supports academic delivery across both our City, Collegiate and Olympic Legacy Park (OLP) Campuses. It is expected that this role will work predominantly at the Olympic Legacy Park at our Attercliffe campus, but there may be times that your expertise is needed at our other campuses across Sheffield.

The Senior Specialist Technician Role
We are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Specialist in the area of sport, health and wellbeing to primarily support the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC). This Specialist Senior Technician role will work directly with senior stakeholders and will take the lead in researching appropriate equipment, techniques and processes aligning with the various research programmes awarded to the centre.
Although you will be predominantly based at the AWRC, you will work flexibly across our other campuses as required to support the research and learning needs of the University. You will have a background in sport and exercise science, ideally with a physiology and / or biomechanics expertise.
The role requires you to work in partnership across TORS and research/academic delivery teams, so you will need good verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to provide an excellent customer service experience. You will need to have experience in supporting the design of research methods, evaluation of equipment and an ability to learn new techniques and expand your skill set.
