The opportunity
The HR team at the University of Salford is evolving and we are looking for our whole team to be part of this as we see our reputation and impact grow.
You will be part of a team of HR Business Partners and Advisers who work closely with our Schools and Professional Services areas, to enable us to understand and respond to the needs of our university.
At Salford, our people are amazing, and you have the opportunity to work closely with our organisation and really support us in our ambitious people plan. As an Associate Business Partner, you are a critical friend, partner and change agent, coaching and working alongside our managers to enable them to get the best out of our people.
There is a significant operational requirement within the role, and you will need to be confident in managing complex casework, whilst working in an environment with recognised trade unions. You will have direct line responsibility for managing and coaching one of our Advisers.
We have a strong team ethos within HR, and you need to enjoy working within a team and getting involved in different and varying work. From managing employee relations issues; delivering change; coaching managers at different levels; to working with the wider HR team to deliver some complex and challenging project work, the role is varied, and you need to be prepared to flex within your role dependent on the requirements of the day.
You need to be resilient to work here – the higher education sector is unique, and there can be frustrations with the pace of change at times that comes with working in a regulated environment, but you can really influence how we do things. This is a great opportunity for someone who really wants to make a difference to the way that we work. We are looking for someone who wants to develop and coach other colleagues within the team, to work collaboratively with the wider University to enhance our student experience, and who will enjoy working with and building strong relationships with our colleagues across the business. You need to be inquisitive and daring enough to challenge the status quo.
