About the role
The University of Sussex is looking for an experienced copywriter and story teller to join its Digital and Creative Media Team.
The role requires someone with expert writing skills, who can spot a great story and turn it into engaging copy for a variety of audiences and channels, to bring our evolving brand to life.
A substantial part of the role will be will focused on student recruitment campaign content and helping to bring our research stories to life in the context of our evolving brand narrative. The role will develop content for a wide variety of digital and print materials, and will often be tasked with writing for multi-channel campaigns.
This is an exciting time to join the Digital and Creative Media Team within the Communications, Marketing and Advancement Division at Sussex. The University has recently appointed a new Vice-Chancellor, is developing its brand and is well on the journey toward an evidence-based, digital-first culture.
The role is crucial to supporting this, and the post-holder will be expected to be both a brand ambassador and to identify opportunities to showcase new developments to further the University’s aims.
Experienced in identifying and researching story leads, you will be expert in writing and managing multiple pieces of content.
You’ll have a portfolio that shows strong creative flair, the ability to work within clear brand guidelines, and a demonstrable understanding of user experience principles and accessibility.
You will have an eagle eye for detail and be a rigorous fact-checker.
With excellent client and customer service skills, you will have strong interviewing skills and experience, working as you will with our students, alumni, academic colleagues and professional services staff, as well as our external roster designers.
