The Student Immigration Advice and Compliance service comprises a team of specialist immigration advisers and compliance officers providing accurate advice and guidance to applicants and students on matters of immigration. We are responsible for ensuring that UCL complies fully with the UKVI sponsorship duties and is therefore able to retain its Student Sponsor status.
About the role
The Student Immigration Adviser is responsible for providing accurate and specialist immigration advice on all UK immigration routes (excluding Asylum). This includes, but is not limited to: the Student visa route (formerly Tier 4), Family route, Graduate Route and the EU Settlement Scheme.
In undertaking this role, the postholder will liaise with prospective and current students and their representatives, members of staff in UCL academic units, Student’s Union UCL and Professional services divisions as well as external agencies such as UKVI and the Home Office.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience of working in a similar student-facing role in higher education. They will have expert knowledge and understanding of UK Visas and Immigration policy affecting international students and educational institutions and have experience of advising under Tier 4/Student visa regulations.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work, think clearly and work calmly to meet service standards under pressure. The nature of the work will require someone with excellent interpersonal skills who has a tactful and diplomatic approach to communication (both verbal and written) and a respect for confidentiality.
In addition, you must be able to produce written communications to high standards of accuracy and clarity & communicate effectively to audiences of varying English understanding.
