Job Description

King’s College London has exciting opportunities for people interested in pursuing a career or taking their next step in Higher Education administration. The role sits within Faculty Education Services in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine and supports King’s Undergraduate Medical Education in the Community (KUMEC) team which is part of the School of Medical Education. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Team. 

The Senior Programme Officer provides essential support to the Stage 2 General Practice (GP) block within the MBBS curriculum, tostudents, GP practices and tutors.  

Working in a fast-paced environment, the role includes taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues. 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the successful candidate will be expected to communicate with students and colleagues across the GP community and staff from across the School and University. The Faculty Education Service is a busy department; you will need to be highly motivated, with good time management and excellent attention to detail. 

Experience of database use and/or management and student record systems would be beneficial. 

This is a full-time post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and coordinate a range of competing priorities, bringing a can-do approach to problem solving 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 
  • Proven competence in providing effective information and records management, including handling confidential information  
  • Proactive approach, and the ability to work independently  
  • Experience in finance administration 
  • Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) as well as online learning platforms (VLEs)  
  • Have a methodical but flexible approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy and a keen attention to detail 
  • To foster and build a relationship-oriented approach to teamwork, ensuring colleagues feel supported with relevant guidance and training to complete tasks 
  • Commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace 

Desirable criteria

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
