Part-Time Fixed-Term - 17.5 hours/week for 20 months
We are looking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow part-time (0.5fte) for 20 months in the first instance, to support an innovative project funded by Marie Curie to explore the lived experience of people living with advanced disease (including the last year of life) and family carers experiencing financial insecurity & socioeconomic deprivation.
The role will be situated within Centre for Psychosocial Research in Cancer: CentRIC+ http://www.southampton.ac.uk/msrg in the School of Health Sciences, in collaboration with John Moores University Liverpool (JMUL).
The study will be co-designed with communities and will take a qualitative approach. This methodology will enable a sensitive exploration of the complexity of the experiences and relational aspects of low income such as mutual aid, shame and stigma, in the context of palliative care.
The main activity for the post-holder will be supporting the delivery of this project under the supervision of Professor Lynn Calman & Principal Research Fellow Dr Michelle Myall, in collaboration with Professor Mari Lloyd Williams (JMUL).
It is essential for the delivery of the project that you can undertake fieldwork for the duration of the project, in-person, in the Wessex region. This will involve spending time in communities to building relationships with community groups and developing study processes with key stakeholders.

You will need to work effectively with members of the study team in Southampton and Liverpool including community/patient representatives, research and administrative staff. You will also need to work effectively with health care professionals, the funder (Marie Curie) and members of the public/service users to develop, deliver and disseminate the work of the research project.
