We are looking for a Communications Assistant to supporting the cutting-edge science of the John Innes Centre.

The role:

As part of the Communications and Engagement team, the Communications Assistant will help the institute to clearly communicate to a range of audiences. The post holder will support events, campaigns and activities will work closely with colleagues at The Sainsbury Laboratory to deliver joint projects and initiatives.

The role will support internal and external communications, public and stakeholder events, working to ensure these activities are professionally supported and delivered. The post holder will help to create engaging written and digital content and support other communications activities at the John Innes Centre.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating science and can confidently create written and digital content. The post holder will be able to engage and interact with a people at different levels and understand of how and why organisations communicate.

The role supports the Head of Communications and Engagement, Head of Strategic Engagement, Public Engagement Officer, and others.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have A Level education or equivalent, an A level or equivalent in a science subject is desirable. You will have demonstrable experience of organising, supporting and/or reporting on events, and experience writing and creating content that is informative, accurate and engaging. You will also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Outlook.

Previous experience working in an academic environment and interest in science or topics relevant to the work of the John Innes Centre would be advantageous but is not essential.
