Centre and Visitor Coordinator

University of Cambridge - Faculty of Law

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £25,742 to £29,605 pa
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 1st March 2024
Closes: 31st March 2024
Job Ref: JK40707

The Faculty of Law is seeking a Centre and Visitor Coordinator to join its proactive and professional administrative support team.

The Faculty of Law currently has over 80 University, Faculty and College teaching officers. Almost every area of legal interest is represented. Within its professional services team, the Faculty has 25 administrative staff, an IT team of 5 and a Legal Research Training & Communications Specialist.

Whilst this role involves routine administrative tasks, the Coordinator role also offers an opportunity to work on a variety of duties and to interact with a range of interesting stakeholders. Any successful candidate should therefore expect to operate in an academic environment, which may require them to manage a multitude of differing tasks simultaneously.

The role holder is the key administrative support to the Faculty's Research Centres; various visitor and exchange schemes; Director of International Strategy & Partnerships; Faculty Safety Officer; and Arthur Goodhart Visiting Professor. These responsibilities include such duties as monitoring inboxes, distribution lists, and databases; organising events, conferences, and accommodation; assisting visiting academics; processing applications for trust funds fund monies; and providing support to Centre Directors and staff (the further information file expands further on the tasks involved).

The Faculty therefore invites applications from enthusiastic administrators, who feel they may have the abilities required to fulfil this dynamic role and wish to become part of the Faculty's professional services team. There is scope within the role for thinking creatively and managing tasks, which will lead to improved research centre performance.

As the role holder has many building-based duties and may be called upon during the day to carry out important in-person tasks, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will primarily work from the Faculty building, rather than remotely. However, beyond the probation period, remote working arrangements can be explored.

Benefits of working at Cambridge include:

Competitive rates of pay with automatic service-related pay progression and annual cost of living increases; Generous annual leave allowance of 36 days paid leave (pro rata including bank holidays); Flexible and hybrid working opportunities; Generous maternity, adoption and shared parental leave entitlement and other family friendly schemes (e.g. workplace nurseries and salary exchange schemes for childcare); An auto-enrolment pension scheme , with a generous employer contribution; Travel benefits and retail discounts at over 2,000 local and national stores; Schemes to support with relocation / the provision of accommodation

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.

We particularly welcome applications from women and /or candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our department/institution/Faculty/School/University.
