About Us

The King’s Global Institute for Women’s Leadership researches the causes and consequences of gender inequalities and the lack of diversity in leadership positions globally. Chaired by Julia Gillard, the only woman to have served as Prime Minister of Australia, we bring together rigorous research, practice, and advocacy to accelerate the pace of change.

About the Role

The King’s Global Institute for Women’s Leadership (GIWL) is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Officer (0.6 FTE) for an ESRC-funded initiative titled ‘Bridging the Gender Data Gap: Using Census Data to Understand Gender Inequalities Across the UK’.

The project is run in partnership with the Women’s Budget Group to deliver data training workshops in multiple locations across the UK and to promote the use of UK census data for feminist analysis.

You will lead the project's administrative organisation, working closely with colleagues at GIWL and the Women’s Budget Group. You will support the initiative by planning, coordinating, and co-delivering the data workshops. If successful you will be expected to travel to and attend the workshops and events related to the Research Project.

An interest in gender and equality issues would be beneficial. Given the range of support required of the role, the successful candidate will need to be organised, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to pitch in with a variety of tasks when needed.

This is a part-time post (0.6FTE, 21 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 31.07.2025

Essential criteria

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent.
  • An ability and interest in learning new IT systems and programmes as required for the role (such as Unit4, Teams, other online booking and ordering systems).
  • Previous experience in an administrative and/or business support role in a busy HE environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities in a busy, pressured work environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with a high standard of English.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and experience of dealing with budgetary and financial processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a professional and assured manner.
  • Proactive, methodical, flexible approach with attention to detail.

We pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming. We embrace diversity and want everyone to feel that they belong and are connected to others in our community.

We are committed to working with our staff and unions on these and other issues, to continue to support our people and to develop a diverse and inclusive culture at King's.

We ask all candidates to submit a copy of their CV, and a supporting statement, detailing how they meet the essential criteria listed in the advert. If we receive a strong field of candidates, we may use the desirable criteria to choose our final shortlist, so please include your evidence against these where possible.

To find out how our managers review your application, please take a look at our ‘How we Recruit’ pages.

Interviews are due to be held end of May and early June 2024.

We are not able to offer sponsorship for candidates who do not currently possess the right to work in the UK.

Closing date: 27 May 2024
