About the role:
This is an exciting role providing project management and operational support to a leading Imperial College research team that focuses on the one of the grand challenges this century: the mitigation of climate change. Our diverse group of post-graduate and post-doctoral researchers focuses on development of energy planning tools, helping country governments and international organisations understand possible ways to reduce emissions, and to meet desirable economic growth and socio-economic outcomes at the same time.
The post holder – Project Manager for Energy Planning Research - will be responsible for a wide range of operational and project management duties, with the intention of enabling the research group to deliver more effectively and efficiently. You will be tasked with keeping on top of financial, staffing, student, project management, meeting and workshop organisation, alongside assisting where needed with a range of crucial administrative needs.
The research team operates out of South Kensington, but national and international travel is frequent, and keeping projects on track requires continuous monitoring and assistance. You will support with this key task to help the team achieve its goals.
Some key projects the team are involved with is Climate Compatible Growth, HI-ACT, DIAMOND and IAM COMPACT. Each of these, and further projects, have a range of operational needs that you will be responsible for, ultimately helping to ensure that we achieve outcomes and impact that can make a difference to national responses to climate change. We are looking for a dedicated team player to take on this rewarding position in our friendly and ambitious team.

What we are looking for:
The essential experience for this role is programme or project management in a university, research institute, or similar environment. This would include analytical assessment of complex budgets, with varied reporting requirements across projects, so good quantitative skills are also required. You must also have knowledge of finance, staffing, and operations approaches.
This role also needs an individual who can creatively deal with new and complex operational challenges, who is an excellent communicator (both verbal and written) and is able to deliver on desired outcomes to deadline with minimal supervision.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
