The Bodleian Libraries is recruiting a Senior Archivist (University Archives). As part of the Archives Senior Management Team, you will contribute to the administration, prioritization, planning, and delivery of the Libraries’ archival work, with a primary focus on the University’s own archives.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates eager to leverage their skills to drive change. The postholder will continue efforts to integrate the management of the University Archives into the Libraries’ wider archival policies, processes, and practices, ensuring alignment and efficient use of resources. Central to this role is the stewardship of the University’s archive, making this material accessible for administrative and research purposes. The role also includes some records management responsibilities, playing a role in fostering a good record-keeping culture across the University to ensure a strong pipeline of appropriate materials to the archive.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. Start and finish times are flexible, but you should usually be present at the Weston Library in Oxford during core hours of Mon-Fri 10am–4pm. It may be possible to work from home one day per week, depending on current activities. Participation in rotas for evening & weekend reading room supervision duties is required. For full-time staff, this is currently one evening from 5pm to 7pm every three weeks and two Saturdays a year.
This position is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check result.
You will be required to carry out some lone working, driving on University business and regular manual handling. All health and safety training will be provided.
