About the role

The Bodleian Libraries Centre for the Study of the Book is looking for a person with excellent communication and administrative skills to support academic engagement with Bodleian Special Collections. The CSB offers hosting, within the Department of Special Collections, for courses, seminars, conferences and summer schools, as well as overseeing the operations of the Bodleian Bibliographical Press, the Libraries’ fully functioning letterpress studio teaching historical printing methods to students and the public.

Reporting to the co-ordinator of the Centre for the Study of the Book, you will be part of a team responsible for the planning, logistics, and reporting of a lively programme of events. You will help to develop and support a programme connecting with existing users and reaching out to new users of Bodleian Special Collections. You will be responsible for logistical and administrative tasks connected with the delivery and reporting of the programme, including communication with curatorial staff, and managing invoicing and payments.

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to working with Special Collections materials.

About You

We are looking for someone with an interest in historical collections and preferably experience of working with these. You will be someone with a strong enthusiasm for the work of the museums and libraries. You must be able to work collaboratively within the institution, interacting with staff at all levels, and be an excellent communicator, comfortable with using email and social media appropriately. You will have good numerical and financial skills and an ability to learn the University’s online accounting system.

How to apply

You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement (or supporting evidence form using the attached template) as part of your online application. Only applications received online by 12.00 midday (GMT) on Tuesday 11 November 2025 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place in-person during the week commencing 1 December 2025.
