About the role

Do you have a passion for storytelling and an eye for engaging content? The University of Bedfordshire is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Internal Communications Assistant to join our small but dynamic Communications team. You’ll help connect our university community by creating inspiring and informative content for students and staff across multiple digital channels — including our award-winning student app.

Key responsibilities

  • Create high-quality, creative content tailored to student and staff audiences.
  • Produce newsletters, staff intranet updates, and app content using a content management system (CMS).
  • Capture and edit videos and photos to bring stories to life.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across faculties, departments, and marketing to deliver engaging campaigns and initiatives.
  • Liaise with student content creators to maintain vibrant and authentic student communication channels.
  • Provide advice and guidance on effective communication practices.
  • Monitor channel performance and use insights to improve engagement and reach.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can balance creativity with attention to detail, and who enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. To succeed, you’ll need:

  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • A creative mindset and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience producing content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop) is an advantage.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours.
