We are seeking to recruit a Senior Technician to support teaching and research in Electronic and Electrical Systems. The postholder will work as part of a dynamic and friendly team contributing to practical teaching in power systems, control and electronics, and will provide support for student projects in energy and electrical vehicle technologies. Provision of advice and input to research projects requiring electrical and electronic systems is also an important aspect of this role.
This is a varied and interesting role and the candidate will have principal responsibility for the Sustainable Electrical Power laboratory, ensuring a high standard of service is provided to staff and students, and that optimum safety levels are maintained. This includes delivery of induction and training for new users and ensuring all work is appropriately risk assessed.
We would like to hear from applicants who have good technical knowledge and experience, gained in industry or education. The ability to develop strong and productive relationships with staff and students is essential, as is well-developed IT skills. Good prior knowledge in electrical systems and electronics is necessary, however training will be provided in specialist topics and to support development generally. Applicants should also have a good working knowledge of risk assessment and control.
