We are seeking to appoint a Flight Simulation Officer to help maintain and develop the research and teaching flight simulators in the School of Engineering.
The simulator laboratories have recently secured significant financial investment and we are looking for a highly motivated person to help lead the development of new simulation capabilities. You should have experience at developing software solutions for both Windows and Linux operating systems, ideally in C/C++, but other languages/experience will be considered. Expertise in one or more of Java, wide area network management/communication and the DIS/HLA protocol would be beneficial. You will have a degree or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience.
The nature of the role means that a high degree of flexibility will be required to meet the needs of different but complementary facilities. You will be a crucial element to help maintain two laboratories to be state-of-the-art and to enable them to support and expand the use of the simulators for teaching and to be an important part of the team delivering cutting edge research with significant industrial impact.
