The Role

We are seeking an outstanding individual who can bring their significant commercial experience as a practicing software developer to the teaching, of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and who can contribute in one of research, innovation, or knowledge transfer.

The Team

You will be joining the Computer Science and Software Engineering group, which is responsible for the delivery of highly-regarded degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The group has a strong record in applied research and knowledge transfer, with many links to local industry through the Digital Innovation for Growth and Sheffield Innovation Programme.

You will be  part of a team that delivers a high-quality learning experience to students and apprentices at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will be involved in and the delivery of core software development learning, contribute to specialist topics, supervise dissertations, liaise with industrial partners, and support our innovative approach to project-based learning and work experience.

As well as the ability to inspire, enthuse, and connect with students from a wide range of backgrounds, and to work with our external clients, you'll need well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues in Software Engineering or Computer Science. You should either have significant experience in professional software development or a PhD in a relevant field.
