As a result of the expansion in Clinical Psychology Doctoral training, we have a unique opportunity to support the development of an embedded intermediate Systemic Psychotherapy training Programme.
The University is one of the leading courses in the UK to have developed specific pathways on the Clinical Psychology Programme. The course gained accreditation from the BABCP in 2019 to provide a specialist CBT pathway alongside the PsychD in Clinical Psychology. We have also developed a neuropsychology pathway. The Programme team are committed to supporting trainees to develop core competencies and offering choice around more advanced competencies. The Systemic Intermediate provision will therefore compliment and offer choice at an advanced level. We have an outstanding reputation for applied psychology training and research.
The Programme has recently been re-accredited by the BPS and has been recommended for the innovative clinical pathways we deliver and recognised our commitment to involving experts by Experience in all aspects of the Programme.
The Programme team have been actively working to develop ways to decolonise the curriculum and to increase our reach into Black and Asian communities, to highlight and support the possibility of a career in clinical psychology and importantly at Surrey. We have developed a specific curriculum group to help us reorientate the Programme to recognise the contribution of other cultural psychologies. This post offers an opportunity to contribute to the integration of this agenda with the robust delivery of clinical training and practice, to reflect the needs of our communities locally and nationally.
We are looking for an experienced systemic psychotherapist to join our expanding team at the University of Surrey. The ideal candidate will be confident in their clinical and leadership skills, passionate about systemic practice and keen to share this knowledge with others. They will share the Team philosophy of enabling trainees to become the best clinical psychologist possible and be able to guide them in realising their own professional ambitions. The candidate will registered with UKCP as a Family and Systemic psychotherapist and have worked within the NHS.
The core role and purpose of this post is to support the expansion of our AFT accredited Systemic pathway on the PsychD in Clinical Psychology at Surrey. The post holder will work closely with our systemically trained team members, the Programme Directors and various stakeholders (including the wider course team, regional supervisors and our service user and carer colleagues).
The post holder will have access to some excellent benefits offered to employees of the University, in addition to CPD opportunities. This could be a secondment from the NHS at 8B grade.
