Job description:
The award winning University of Bedfordshire Careers & Employability Service is looking to appoint a Work Placement Coordinator to join our team based at the Luton Campus to assist in developing and rolling out a model of good practice in placements.
The Work Placement Coordinator will report directly to the Student Development & Awards Manager supporting yearlong and co-curricular placements throughout the university. The successful candidate will also support other work based learning activities, such as the Career Development Award.
The post holder will support students through all aspects of their placement applications and work creatively with their depts. and employers to develop students’ employability and ensure an adequate supply of placement opportunities.
Candidates will have an excellent understanding of the HE sector and industrial placements within this context.
We are seeking a confident communicator and presenter, with the ability to motivate students to compete effectively in a challenging market and be able to convince internal and external stakeholders of supporting the placements agenda.
The successful candidate will be an excellent administrator, with experience of managing conflicting deadlines. Excellent IT skills, including the ability to use Excel at an advanced level and managing databases are a must.
Successful candidates will need a flexible attitude to working as occasional working evenings & weekends during peak times of the year may be required with prior notice e.g. UCAS days. Candidates may also on occasion be required to work at our other sites e.g. Bedford.
