Are you interested in joining the Careers Service to play a key role in developing the University-wide placement offer to students?
The University of Sheffield’s Education strategy focuses on delivering courses that provide an excellent student experience and equip its graduates with the knowledge, skills, values and attributes needed to address solutions to the environmental, economic and social challenges that we face today.
The Careers Service is a strategic partner in delivering this vision. We aim to ensure our students are aware of the options open to them and are prepared to achieve their career and further study aspirations. We take a partnership approach, engaging students and employers to inform our services and working collaboratively with colleagues across the University to ensure all our students, whatever their background, can achieve their potential.
As the Placements and Employability Manager you will lead on the ongoing development and enhancement of work placements and other work-related employability development opportunities for students, and widening access to such opportunities. This is a key element of the University’s strategic commitment to student and graduate employability, development of student participation in work-oriented learning experiences, and ensuring all undergraduate students have the opportunity to undertake a placement year as part of their programme of study. For the duration of this contract, the post will have a particular focus on the extension of placement year provision to enable any undergraduate student on a relevant programme to undertake a placement.
This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave from 4 April to 22 September 2023.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
