Research and Enterprise Office (REO)
The Research and Enterprise Office (REO) supports and enables Excellence in Research to ensure the University’s position as a leading research-intensive university is acknowledged nationally and internationally. The REO facilitates excellent research with impact conducted within the University to the highest levels of integrity, whilst seeking to maintain and promote the reputation of the university. The lively and friendly team within the REO comprises around 80 professionals, working to enable research development, knowledge exchange and wider impact, engagement with business, and having institutional research planning and governance responsibilities.
Duties of the Role
The Research Governance and Planning Officer (Due Diligence) will develop and oversee processes to support compliance with and delivery of the University’s policies in relation to due diligence. This will involve working closely with the Research Governance and Planning Manager, with colleagues in the REO, and across the University to ensure a wider understanding of due diligence responsibilities in relation externally funded research and knowledge exchange and national and international partnerships. The post holder will also contribute to the identification, development, and promotion of best practices in relation to collaborative research.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will be educated to at least graduate level or equivalent standard, have a good understanding of the risk posed by current and new research partners (due diligence) and research funder requirements to enable compliance and protection of the University’s interests. Experience of gathering, organising and analysing data and information sources is essential. The candidate will have knowledge of the principles of project management and a track record of information management within a complex stakeholder environment. The ability and commitment to developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key external and internal stakeholders is essential. The candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and will have the ability to co-ordinate tasks with other team members and use your initiative.
