The School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences is looking for an experienced administrator to join their existing talented Executive Administration Team based within the Department of Meteorology at Earley Gate campus, Reading.

The successful individual will have a positive attitude, be flexible and have a can-do approach and demonstrate the ability to work independently, proactively seek support and be solutions driven. In addition, be able to demonstrate genuine passion and drive with a willingness to learn and develop.

You will provide high quality, professional administrative executive support to senior academics, their groups and PhD students within the Department. There will be some flexibility to work remotely based on the University’s Smart Working Framework.

You will be fully supported in your role by a highly skilled team that are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and very experienced.

The role is full time, working 5 days per week 9am-5pm, however, we welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements and will be considered in line with business needs.

We are looking for the following skills, which must be demonstrated in your application and at interview:

  • Good interpersonal skills with a proactive, resilient approach and an enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and meet set deadlines
  • Experience of working within a busy office environment in an administrative role with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve team goals, demonstrating tact, diplomacy and empathy
  • Ability to ensure effective liaison and excellent communication with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret complex processes and guidelines, and provide clear advice on these to stakeholders
  • Excellent IT skills with extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications and tools, especially, Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools such as OneDrive, SharePoint and MS Teams
  • Ideally experienced in maintaining webpages using WordPress & Site Core 
  • Adaptable to the changing needs of the department and the team
  • Develop, coordinate and organise events, workshops and meetings
