Student Success Officer

We are now looking for a Student Success Officer to join our London campus on a Full time, Permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE –

You will assist in undertaking a broad range of front-facing and administrative duties as directed by their line manager. You will be expected to work proactively and independently within those areas of responsibility as necessary. Precise requirements may vary, but could typically include:

Case Work Activity:

  • Interpret data to identify students at risk of disengagement as indicated by a reduction in activity levels.
  • Regularly review individual student’s activity via the data on relevant systems (e.g. attendance data, Moodle access data, assessment data).
  • Work with students to identify withdrawal or progression risks and barriers to learning. Provide initial level of intervention, (1:1 or group activity) including appropriate signposting and referral
  • Liaise with academic tutors and the relevant professional services teams, follow up with students where activity levels have decreased according to the dashboard and students who are likely failing academically, using email and then telephone enquiry as appropriate.
  • Signposting and referral - Determine if the student requires additional support and, where appropriate, refer to the academic tutor and/or relevant professional services team for that support.

Administrative Activity: 

  • Capture data to support the monitoring retention and academic success trends across Institutes, disciplines, and programmes (including withdrawals, suspensions, and fails) in relation to protected characteristics, demographic characteristics, or other variables.
  • Support a uniform and consistent approach to programme withdrawal, interruption and progression.
  • Ensure a uniform approach to the recording and reporting of reasons for student withdrawal, interruption of study and progression
  • Maintaining full and accurate records to support the development of project aims and inform reports and evaluation activity

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Student Success Officer you will need:

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly intermediate Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience of case management and review or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a coaching framework to identify goals, barriers and actions
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for a diverse range of people and recognises the importance of building sound working relationships
  • Understanding of the need for appropriate confidentiality and information sharing in line with safeguarding and GDPR responsibilities.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Previous experience in supporting students with complex needs in a higher education context
  • Previous experience in using online central systems and packages.
