The role

The School Modern Languages is looking to recruit a self-motivated, and enthusiastic Deputy Administration Manager to support the Student Administration Manager (SAM), and Programme Directors in delivering high-quality education processes for the degrees offered within the School.

The post holder will have responsibility for specific areas of work which support the student administration related processes and will supervise up to six members of the School’s Student Administrative Team.

Excellent organisational skills are required along with a high standard of IT skills and the ability to interact with various office systems. Well-developed communication skills are essential as the post holder will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.

The role holder is expected to work on campus a minimum 3 days a week.

What will you be doing?

Assisting the Student Administration Manager with roles and responsibilities of student education:

  • Supervise the student administrators.
  • Maintain accurate processes for University Wide Language Programme (UWLP) and personal tutoring allocations.
  • Manage and maintain Welcome Week planning.
  • Manage, alongside the SAM, the administrative processes around Exam boards
  • Receive and respond to enquiries from students and staff including more complex queries.

  • You have demonstratable student administration experience, knowledge of education processes and enjoy using your organisational skills to deliver a high-quality service to students and staff.
  • You thrive on working in a busy, varied environment, have an excellent approach to customer service and can use your initiative, communication and organisational skills to be an effective and supportive manager.
  • You are a good team player, can communicate clearly with staff and students, building effective working relationships and remaining calm, resilient and positive in potentially complex and challenging situations.
  • You have excellent prioritisation and organisation skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload with competing priorities.
  • You take ownership of problems and seek to find sustainable solutions.
  • You are experienced in using a range of IT systems and be able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.
