An exciting opportunity for a qualitative social scientist to work on a Global Health research programme in the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education, within the Faculty of Medicine, based at Southampton General Hospital with hybrid working.
The position is funded by the National Institute of Health Research through a Global Health Professorship awarded to Professor Nuala McGrath. The CHERISH programme focuses on couples’ health in sub-Saharan Africa, and is a partnership between the University of Southampton and two South African institutions: Human Sciences Research Council and University of Cape Town.
CHERISH designs and evaluates interventions for couples affected by HIV, diabetes and other health conditions. You will conduct new analyses of existing HIV-related and diabetes-related data from qualitative interviews conducted in South Africa and conduct scoping reviews of the literature on existing couples-focused intervention research in other health conditions and health behaviours in couples. . Your contributions will be recognised through authorship on publications, including as first author where appropriate.
Experience of working in intervention development with the behaviour change wheel and / or Person-Based approach is highly desirable .
