You will sit within the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit in the School of Public Health. The Unit oversees undergraduate primary care placements across the six-year MBBS degree at Imperial College London and team members undertake a diverse range of educational evaluation and research activities relating to the undergraduate primary care curriculum.
Duties and responsibilities
You will work with other members of the Undergraduate Primary Care Education team to lead and/or contribute to medical education evaluation, research and teaching in relation to the undergraduate primary care curriculum and educational innovations as part of the Unit’s quality improvement approach. Examples of workstream themes include digital health and education in primary care, coaching skills, diversity and inclusion, faculty development, assessment approaches and promotion of GP careers amongst undergraduate medical students. The postholder will support the professional development of team members in relation to evaluation, research and quality improvement more generally.
You will contribute to the development, teaching delivery (including academic tutorials and lectures where appropriate), assessment (including providing constructive feedback for students) and evaluation of curricular materials in the undergraduate primary care teaching programme. This will include undertaking relevant administrative duties, including relating to the organisation of these activities and maintaining attendance records where required.
You will also have the opportunity to supervise evaluation and research projects undertaken by students and team members, and to contribute to academic and personal tutoring programmes, supporting students with their academic, personal and professional development and with pastoral matters.
You will apply qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation skills to ensure appropriate and robust evaluation and research relating to the curricular and faculty development initiatives of the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit, with a view to maximising learning from these initiatives and enabling publication and sharing of best practice. There will be opportunities to develop collaborations for evaluation and/or research projects nationally and globally relating to undergraduate primary care education.
You will also work on wider primary care-related quality improvement, evaluation and/or research projects within Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM).
This post is full time, fixed term and you will be based at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith, and White City Campuses.
