The Governance and Secretariat Directorate is seeking to recruit a new Data Protection Advisor. This role will be fast-paced and varied, involving liaison with colleagues across the University to inform, advise on, and monitor compliance with Data Protection legislation in line with our data protection strategy.
You will provide advice and support on all data protection areas relevant to the Higher Education setting, from investigating suspected breaches to embedding data protection by design in new projects and services. You will have a crucial role in helping colleagues understand their data protection obligations, and ensuring that our teams understand and can comply with the Data Protection Principles.
Working alongside key stakeholders such as our volunteer Data Protection Champions, you will be part of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team that works hard to ensure that Brunel puts privacy at the heart of our use of personal data.
We are seeking a candidate who has had a number of years experience in a data protection role, ideally within a higher education setting. You will have a detailed understanding of how to apply data protection law in practice and be able to develop relationships to ensure that compliance is approached in a pragmatic and risk-based way..
