Programmes Officer

University of Bath - Engineering & Design - Faculty Office

Location: Bath
Salary: £29,605 to £36,024 Grade 6
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 1st December 2023
Closes: 7th January 2024

We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated Programmes Officer to join the Faculty of Engineering & Design Student Centre team.

About the role:

As Programmes Officer you will play a vital role in providing leadership, management and operational support to the Faculty Student Centre team. You will have direct line management responsibility for a team of administrators, ensuring a high level of administrative support is provided for the assessment business for the Faculty’s Taught Programmes (UG and PGT). This will include encouraging and promoting collaborative team working, identifying opportunities for common systems and processes, standardising best practice within the University regulations, and developing the skills and competencies of the FSC team. Working closely with your fellow Programmes Officer(s), you will also work on a range of faculty-wide projects. This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic and professional services colleagues and students.

If you have any questions about the role or the Faculty Student Centre team please contact Emma Greeley, Programmes manager (absesjg@bath.ac.uk)

Please ensure your application is submitted via the University website.

This post is offered on a full time basis (36.5 hours per week).

About you:

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have a good understanding and experience of programme administration
  • Have excellent organisational skills, able to manage a complex workload maintaining attention to detail at times of pressure
  • Be a strong team player, able to demonstrate a collaborative approach and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Have excellent and effective communication skills
  • Have strong computer skills, with sound proficiency in Word and Excel and confidence to learn the use of web-based management information systems.

Previous management experience of a team working in a leadership role would be a bonus. Experience in the use of University-specific software (Moodle, SAMIS/SITS and Business Objects) is desirable though not essential. Most important though is an interest in our work and a willingness to become fully involved in the life of the Faculty and its departments. The ideal candidate would have some experience of HE student assessment administration together with an interest in developing their line management and leadership skills.

About us:

We care about student and staff well-being, personal and professional development, delivering excellent service and University reputation. If this approach resonates with you and you are a good team player who also enjoys working independently and taking the initiative, we welcome an application from you.

As a Faculty, we accept change and provide a supportive environment in which to grow, offering professional development opportunities with a strong belief in the value of investing in our people and teams. We are currently operating a hybrid work model which is a combination of both campus and home working (minimum 3 days a week on campus to include Wednesdays)
