We are seeking a Research Hub Manager to work closely with key academic staff to support research activities within the Faculty of Health.
Reporting to the Faculty Research Manager, you will be an integral member of the Faculty research support hubs, working primarily with the School of Clinical Dentistry and the Division of Neuroscience.
You will play a key role in the delivery of a high quality and timely research support service to academics and researchers in the Faculty, embedding a culture of operational excellence University-wide. We work closely with academic staff within the faculty, providing specialist knowledge, advice, and services in relation to research support activities.
You will work within a faculty team of approximately 11 of our colleagues from the University, working closely with key academic and research staff, as well as Professional Services colleagues to support research activities and grant proposal submissions within the Faculty of Health.
You will ideally have existing experience of working in a similar environment (pre-award research support), and you will provide leadership to the research hub operations to coordinate all interfaces of research support. You will communicate in a straight-forward and appropriate way with internal and external partners and will be willing to contribute to the development of policies and systems to deliver a coordinated and consistent research support network across the University. You will have a proactive approach and be able to deal with a volume of work with constantly evolving priorities in a timely and customer-friendly manner.
You will be encouraged to keep up to date with institutional, Faculty and funder priorities and policies, and work with academic staff locally to support the maintenance of external relationships. You will also be responsible for the supervision and development of the Research Support Officer(s) in your Hub, coordinating all aspects of their activity either via straight-line or dotted-line/matrix reporting. While you will work in a team supporting specific areas of the Faculty, there will also be opportunities to contribute to initiatives and work with colleagues from across the wider research support community at the University of Sheffield. Higher education experience is desirable but not crucial, and we welcome applications from candidates with proven experience and transferable skills in other sectors too. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
