Open-ended appointment, 37 hours per week

We are seeking an exceptional data scientist to play a key delivery role within the Institute of Railway Research (IRR). The position will involve working with our safety and risk experts under a strategic partnership with the Railway Safety and Standard Board (RSSB) on projects related to accident data analysis, operational safety and risk management. Beyond these projects, opportunities exist to work alongside our wider research and consultancy team to carry out activities on a variety of projects including: railway operations monitoring, and remote condition monitoring for automated condition-based maintenance systems and smart technologies.

The IRR comprises experts across a wide range of disciplines including safety and risk experts, railway engineers, mathematicians and data analysts, and there are opportunities to develop your career in a number of ways including gaining further academic qualifications, leading project teams and developing new products.
