Applications are invited for the position of Network Infrastructure Engineer within the Digital & Information Services, Network Infrastructure Team.
The University is implementing an ambitious digital strategy which has resulted in significant investment, providing an exciting opportunity to work with some of the latest technologies in a large environment supporting >3,500 staff and >14,500 students.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to make a significant contribution, further develop their skills and career by working at the centre of a higher education environment on a variety of innovative Network infrastructure work, including supporting the Network, storage and associated IT infrastructure of the University underpinning services such as web, email, file store, backup, printing and the hosting of business applications.
Provision of Engineer network skills and experience alongside wider technical support responsibilities including F5, Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper, HP/Aruba, management tools including monitoring; on premise and/or cloud hosted. Identifying and implementing opportunities for operational systems and service improvement, following the University's change management process and procedures. Participation in IT projects that deliver service improvements
The Network Infrastructure Team will comprise of 6 staff with a range of skills and specialisms, with a good team dynamic and positive relationship with other IT teams and the wider University community. In order to succeed, the candidate will require a customer service ethos and be adaptable in order to meet the project and operational challenges and demands, which can vary considerably throughout the academic year.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate generalist knowledge and skills in relation to Network infrastructure technologies and they will have a flexible approach in applying these skills in line with the duties and responsibilities given.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale (£29,619 – £33,314 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
