The NTU-GridLab is seeking a highly motivated Post Doctoral Research Fellow to assist our team in contributing to the development of science in this field and in support of an externally funded research Project. The growing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) is expected to play a crucial role in the transition toward a sustainable energy system.

Responsibilities include:

  • To conduct research in the area of local energy communities and the role of electric vehicles, smart charging, and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) within those communities
  • To review and evaluate existing literature in the field and report them
  • To attend regular internal meetings and consortium or work-package/task meetings of the project
  • Work closely with the project partners to ensure the outputs meet the project objectives
  • To attend and or present at local and national/international level events as required
  • To undertake administrative tasks associated with the project, that are required to ensure accurate and timely reporting (e.g. planning, organizing, implementing procedures and assisting with project management).
  • To effectively engage with industrial, commercial, public bodies, and academic/research institutions in order to successfully accomplish assigned tasks and activities
  • To undergo appropriate and effective personal and professional development.
  • Defining research objectives and developing grant proposals for joint research
  • Contribute to the university's overall research performance by publishing in academic journals and conferences on the project findings, as well as collaborating in supervising graduate and postgraduate students
  • Any other responsibilities and duties relevant to the position that has not been explicitly specified

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education:

  • A PhD in Engineering, Power and Energy Systems, Computer Science, Operation Research, or related fields to the sustainable power and energy systems

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of decarbonized local energy community’s challenges
  • Proven ability to publish in international high-profile journals and other research outputs
  • Demonstrated background and experience in the development of local flexibility marketplaces/tools/algorithms
  • Proven ability to work without close supervision. There is a requirement for candidates to demonstrate good collaborative skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
  • Applicants must be proficient in written and oral English communication skills; excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are essential for this role.
  • Strong experience in software development, specifically in Python
  • Proven ability in modelling the low voltage distribution networks with of DIgSILENT Power Factory (or a similar Power Systems Simulator)
  • Experience in setting up and working with real-time digital simulators
  • Good understanding of V2X technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Strong time management and task management abilities
  • Experience in online meeting/project management tools
  • Proven ability in effective and persuasive communication

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with data analytics and machine learning techniques
  • Knowledge of the status quo and challenges of research in the specialist field
  • Proven experience in writing and securing grant proposals
