The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education is a leading provider of open access courses to adults from all backgrounds and life stages, predominantly studying on a part-time basis. It celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2023.
We seek to appoint a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in Digital Skills. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership and administration, as well as deliver teaching on part-time programmes in the field of Digital Skills. These programmes will include non-award bearing postgraduate 'Career Accelerators', Apprenticeships, HTQs and short courses for continuing professional development.
The successful candidate will be able to display relevant professional and academic experience and should ideally also have experience of working in commercial settings. They will hold a postgraduate qualification, preferably at doctoral level, in a field such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of developing teaching material for courses and developing and shaping learner-centred and employer-relevant course structures and assessment protocols. Although not essential, they may have a relevant teaching qualification and/or be a Fellow of the HEA or equivalent professional organisation. The candidate will be able to evidence engagement with the latest scholarship in their specialist subject area to inform the development of academically rigorous teaching. Their teaching style will be evidence-based, learner-centred and highly engaging. They will have a clear interest in working with motivated students with a wide range of prior educational experiences and backgrounds and employers from relevant sectors.
A core component of the post holder's role will involve partnership working with departments of the University of Cambridge and other stakeholders, including third-party platform providers, such as edX, and approved suppliers of course design and development services. They will also work closely with the Institute's Technology-Enhanced Learning team, and Professional Services teams including Marketing, Admissions and Student Support.

The successful applicant would be required to take up the post no later than 1st August 2023. The role holder would be required to work from University offices in Madingley and locations across Cambridge for a minimum of two days each week.
