About the Role
In a changing and challenging health and social care sector, it is essential that we provide a diverse range of placement experiences for our health and social care students. This is to ensure students get relevant exposure and opportunities to practice and participate in care across a range of settings.
More recently, placement expansion has become a key area of focus to support the expanding health and social care workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us to develop high quality placements that will benefit the student experience and the future workforce.
As a result of a successful bid, we have received funding from Health Education England to support the further development of health and social care placements in the social care sector. This work will be undertaken with the Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) and Care and Support West.
We are looking for someone with experience of working in the health and social care sector, who can build and strengthen relationships between placement providers across the BNSSG system. This will require excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. You will be supported by our Portfolio Lead for Practice Learning and will have an identified academic mentor to help them to understand the placement requirements for our learners.
This role will also be supported by Care and Support West and the wider BNSSG system. It is envisaged that the post holder will spend time away from UWE working closely with these partners to scope existing provision, identify new provision and understand the barriers and enablers to placement provision in this sector.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
Home to UWE Bristol's Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Glenside Campus offers excellent teaching facilities, these include a selection of inter-professional simulation suites, enabling students to practice and develop professional competencies, and one of the best health care libraries in England.
The post will also involve travel to partners and placement providers to enable and support partnership working across the BRISTOL, NORTH SOMERSET AND SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE system.
In addition to progressive pay rates, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including:
