We are currently looking for an experienced CPRD Research Applications Developer to join our Safety & Surveillance group. Within a week of working here the post holder will be responsible for using computer science, machine learning, and data modelling expertise to build applications that interface with multiple data sources that underpin CPRD’s research services with responsibilities that include developing and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and robust production applications and services in a fast-paced environment; working closely with interventional and observation researchers across industry and academia to capture research requirements.
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in either a computer science, software engineering, or maths-based subject as well as in depth knowledge of using software development patterns and best practices to create software of high complexity using an object-orientated or scripting programming language, including but not limited to .NET, Java, or Python, in an academic or commercial environment.
You will also have proven ability of analysing existing intricate codebases of programmes, processes, or services to locate bugs or identify opportunities for improvements and optimisations and experience of working with structured data, such as CSV or XML, and database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle to create relational tables and schemas for loading, storing and accessing data as well as knowledge of applying data science techniques to create new or novel insights.
