The University of Reading Music Team is responsible for the planning and delivery of the institution’s extracurricular music programme. The Team runs a diverse programme of performance opportunities, activities and events throughout the year that promote engagement through music and showcase the talents of our students, staff and alumni to a range of public audiences. Part of the University External Relations Directorate, our small Music Team benefits from close collaboration with professionals from across the marketing, communications and engagement disciplines to ensure that music activities provide an exceptional experience for participants and audiences alike.

As Music Programme Coordinator you will be responsible for managing the busy Music Office, supporting the planning and delivery of the University’s music activities. You will work closely with the Artistic Director (who works 0.6FTE) to plan the annual programme and develop the growing membership base. You will take a lead, in-person, delivery role, supporting conductors/directors, in ensuring the smooth running of the various weekly evening ensemble rehearsals as well as being responsible for all rehearsal logistics and communications with members. You will support performance programme development and be responsible for the operational planning and delivery of all concerts including promotion, ticketing, front of house and concert management.

As the administrative lead for Music at the University, you will be highly self-motivated, astute and proactive with a keen interest in music. Able to demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and confidence you will have a proven track record of building strong working relationships and an approachable style.

Please note that interviews for this role will take place, in-person, on Tuesday 16 or Wednesday 17 January 2024. The initial interview process will involve two aspects as follows (exact details to be confirmed with shortlisted candidates):

  • A short, job-related task (approx. 50mins)
  • A standard interview (approx. 45mins)
