The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled project manager to play a key role in the expansion of our commercialisation activity at University of the Arts London (UAL).
This is a new role which reflects our ambitions to significantly grow our industry-academic collaborations through, for example, contract research, consultancies, social ventures, licences or spin outs.
Leading on the development of commercial opportunities will require managing internal and external stakeholder engagement, as well as working with colleagues across UAL and with industry partners to embed commercialisation support into the different stages of our research and knowledge exchange, impact and innovation cycles.
This is a challenging role which offers the right candidate the opportunity to help shape an emerging area within our research and knowledge exchange strategies.
About you
You will be educated to degree level with a successful track record of project development and management, as well as experience of structuring an effective business case for funding or investment. The role will require excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, and the demonstrable ability to use initiative and lateral thinking to find successful outcomes.
You will have strong commercialisation experience, including opportunity appraisal, gained either within industry or an innovation/research environment. Highly organised and self-motivated, you will be capable of working autonomously and of managing a varied project portfolio.
Direct experience of I.P. management and protection or commercialisation in the SHAPE disciplines would be advantageous.
