Based in the Faculty of Life Sciences, UCL Division of Biosciences is one of the largest and most active divisions for research and education in the biological sciences.
We are looking to recruit a PhD Administrator to provide comprehensive and effective administration for the Biosciences graduate research programmes from admission to completion. The post holder will support the BBSRC and MRC doctoral training programmes (DTPs) and the Research Department of Neuroscience, Pharmacology and Physiology (NPP).
The successful candidate will be the first point of call for students with administrative issues that need to be clarified. You will be expected to proactively develop effective working relationships with academic and administrative staff within the Division and other allied institutions, and with contacts in UCL Central Services – e.g. Admissions Office, Student Records, Fees Office, Research Finance, Student Funding Office – so strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential. Reporting to the Postgraduate Research Team Manager, you will be expected to manage your own workload using initiative, judgement and decision making skills when prioritising work.
You should be educated to first degree level or equivalent or hold substantial relevant experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, IT skills with experience of MS Office, interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy whilst under pressure are all essential for the role. The ability to anticipate issues and to prioritise and the ability to creatively problem solve are also essential for the role.
