The Opportunity

To provide a high-quality compliance management service ensuring that at all times the co-ordination, organisation and administration of College compliance activities are aligned with the appropriate College, Validating Partner/s and Higher Education (HE) Sector policies and procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will have evidence of commitment to continuing professional development relevant to Diversity and Inclusion and Complaint resolution as well as knowledge of and experience working in resolutions management.


  1. Acting as the College Compliance Manager, providing the highest standard of organisational and regulatory compliance management and support for:
    1. Student complaint cases
    2. Student misconduct cases including
      1. Code of conduct/disciplinary pathway
      2. Academic misconduct pathway
      3. Fitness to practice pathway
  2. Management of all incoming and outgoing correspondence in respect of compliance cases including:
    1. ensuring students are kept informed of progress on their case
    2. ensuring complainants are kept informed of case progress, as appropriate
    3. ensuring academic teams are kept informed of case progress, as appropriate
    4. production of all formal letters/communications in respect of compliance cases
  3. Casework management for all UCFB/GIS compliance cases including:
    1. assigning cases to appropriate leads for review/investigation
    2. tracking case progress to ensure compliance with procedural response timeframes
    3. collating information and production/maintenance of casework packs for compliance panel hearings
    4. organisation of and, where required, clerking of formal compliance case hearings
  4. Case work management for compliances cases that proceed to Appeals stages with Validating Partner/s
  5. Case work management for compliance cases that proceed to the Office of the independent Adjudicator (OIA) including acting as the OIA Point of Contact
  6. Organisation of and, where required, clerking of compliance case formal hearings
  7. Coordination of the organisational and administrative support for Fitness to Practice cases as required by the circumstances of each individual case to ensure compliance with the appropriate regulations, processes and procedures
  8. Working closely with colleagues across Registry Departments to ensure that outcomes from compliance cases are noted within the case appropriate areas of the student records system (EBS)
  9. Acting as College liaison point for the Validating Partner/s Student Unions in respect of their work in supporting students involved in compliance type cases, building positive relationships as necessary
  10. Producing management reports relating to compliance cases as required by:
    1. UCFB/GIS
    2. Validating Partner/s
    3. Other external Bodies such as OIA
  11. Maintaining in-depth knowledge of compliance regulations and acting as a source of expert advice and guidance to academic and administrative colleagues on case management
  12. Proactively working to improve internal policies, processes and procedures related to compliance case management including:
    1. policy and procedure development and ongoing review
    2. identifying requirements for guidance and training, producing guidance packs and developing and delivering training workshops
    3. developing and overseeing af ‘pool’ of appropriately trained staff to fill compliance case work requirements
  13. Supporting the delivery of other Registry/Quality activities in line with the expectations of the grade, as required by the Head of Quality (Line manager)

Additional Information

Working hours: Working hours normally 8.30 am - 5pm but may involve additional and unsocial working hours depending on the nature of the event and occasional travel between campus.

Please note that if you do not have permission to work in the UK, UCFB will not be able to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship for you to take up this position.  All non EU/EAA candidates must have valid immigration status and/or a UK visa valid for the duration of the contract in order to be considered for this role.

Location: Manchester, Wembley
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum pro rata, depending upon qualifications and experience (plus a 10% London Weighting allowance if applicable)
